MNEME

MNEME

The number of people with dementia worldwide is estimated to be around 60 million. By 2050, this number will have tripled. The main causes are population growth and ageing. Mneme is a playful, motivational and non-pharmacological cognitive stimulation tool. Aimed at psychotherapists and family members of people with dementia, it provides a set of tools to work on cognitive stimulation through play, in order to slow down the progression of the disease.
INFADIMED®

INFADIMED®

A nurse-led primary care programme tackling childhood obesity and poor nutrition. With the help of Captain Vitamins, a cartoon character, the programme has already succeeded in getting many children to eat and live healthier. Now, as the programme grows, a tool called the Healthy Virtual Platform is being developed. This tool would be a kind of NETFLIX of healthy lifestyle animations for young people and children. The creators want everyone to be able to watch the cartoons and learn how to eat well at home. They will also create entertaining games to help children learn more about the Mediterranean diet. In this way, they hope to continue helping children and their families to be healthier, even when they are in front of a screen.
NYSTAVERT®

NYSTAVERT®

The diagnosis of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV) is challenging and often nonspecific in 75% of cases in primary care (according to a recent study in the USA), partly due to the lack of identification of nystagmus when it is minimal. The "Nystavert" project offers an innovative solution to improve the diagnosis of BPPV. Through a mobile application, patients can record videos of their nystagmus, which will be analysed by an integrated diagnostic algorithm. This solution provides a more accessible and cost-effective alternative compared to existing technologies, with the goal of improving the identification of BPPV and facilitating more effective treatment in primary care.

AFAI

AFAI

Atrial fibrillation (AFAI) is the third leading cause of death in the world with 27,800 cases per year in Spain. The project addresses the critical issue of atrial fibrillation (AF) by developing the AFAI algorithm. This solution, integrated within the electronic medical record, provides effective support for medical decision-making, improving the management of HACE and reducing clinical variability. With its ease of use, adaptability and updates, AFAI provides suggestions based on up-to-date scientific evidence to improve patient safety, representing an advanced tool to prevent strokes and improve the quality of healthcare, as well as to determine the best pharmacological treatment in patients with atrial fibrillation.
ODISEA

ODISEA

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of death worldwide. More than 17 million people die from CVD every year. The INFARTO Code protocol is fully implemented within the Catalan health system and is activated whenever a person suffers an event. It coordinates primary care staff, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff, and hospital staff. Odisea is a project that addresses the complexity of the pre-hospital care process for acute myocardial infarction, highlighting shortcomings in coordination, information flow, and data analysis. To overcome these inefficiencies, Odisea introduces a software application that enhances coordination and information flow among healthcare professionals. This application improves collaboration between doctors in the diagnosis, transfer, and treatment of patients with myocardial infarction, reducing time and enhancing the efficiency of the care process. This project is developed in collaboration with IDIBGI, UdG, Hospital Dr. Trueta, and IDIAPJGol.
TOBBGEST

TOBBGEST

The Tobbgest project has been funded by the Instituto de Salud Carlos III in the 2021 call. The research team is made up of professionals from the Catalan Institute of Health and IDIAP Jordi Gol, in collaboration with the Department of Computer Science and Mathematics of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona). The aim of the study is to put an end to tobacco addiction in pregnant women through an application for mobile devices designed specifically for this purpose.
CRIBMI®

CRIBMI®

ISMiHealth is a clinical decision support system, integrated in the electronic health record (EHR) system of primary care, that aims to improve the screening performance on infectious diseases and female genital mutilation (FGM) in migrants. Through the ISMiHealth software, primary care professionals receive real-time prompts with screening recommendations for infectious diseases and FGM targeting the migrant population based on an individualized risk assessment. For this assessment, demographic characteristics (sex, age and country of origin) of each individual migrant patient are considered. ISMiHealth is a unique and novel software that offers an individualized approach, integrated into the EHR systems and adaptable to different epidemiological changes. A cluster randomised control trial with 35 primary care centres in Catalonia and a pilot cluster randomised control trial with seven centres in Almería (Andalusia) are being carried out. Intervention centres will implement the screening programme supported by the ISMiHealth software tool, while control centres will follow the current routine practices. ISMiHealth aims to improve migrant’s health by reducing inequities and promoting high-quality healthcare services. ISMiHealth has been developed by ISGlobal, IDIAPJGol and CAPSBE.
PEDITERM

PEDITERM

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a disease that is becoming increasingly common in western countries. One of the most serious complications of DM is diabetic foot (DF), a lesion that develops below the ankle in people with diabetes due to diabetic neuropathy or peripheral arterial disease. To prevent DF, it is essential to implement effective preventive measures such as screening programmes and ulcer risk stratification. In this context, the PEDITERM project is an innovative initiative to improve the ulcer risk detection and stratification system through the use of dermal infrared thermography cameras in primary care consultations. This technology will allow us to optimise the early identification of patients at risk of developing diabetic foot ulcers to reduce complications such as advanced ulcers and amputation.
PALLIAKID

PALLIAKID

Approximately 21 million children worldwide need palliative care and more than 8 million need specialised care during their illness and at the end of life (170,000 children in Europe). Palliakid is a European project that aims to provide access to palliative care for children with advanced, complex or terminal illnesses in order to improve their well-being and quality of life. IDIAPJGol's previous knowledge is the basis of this project, as it has developed the HEXCOM tool to assess the complexity of palliative care for adults. One of the main objectives of this project is to adapt this tool to the paediatric setting. Palliakid aims to improve the early identification of patients with complex palliative care needs by creating predictive models. These models will differentiate patients according to their level of complexity, allowing for rapid, comprehensive and planned care. The project will strengthen the involvement of patients and their families, with the aim of developing tools for a more accurate assessment of needs and expectations, facilitating interaction and involvement with the whole healthcare team.
